Skim through Chapter 6 of your textbook on “Experimental Writing.” What do you think of this writing? Which of the samples given affects you powerfully? Jot down your thoughts in your journal. (This is called a responding to literature type of journal writing.) Write two entries, each one a paragraph about one of the examples of experimental writing in the chapter. Finally, try an experiment! Choose one of the experimental forms and see what you can do with it. How about a Psalm – modernized to share your feelings and thoughts about life’s challenges? Have you ever tried a parody? Or maybe write a simple description like William Carlos Williams. You may be surprised! Maybe you are the next Sophie Esquiff or David Craig.
