 Project Description

Recent tourism approaches have centered on sustainable tourism practices. These involve activities that protect the tourist attractions often following the slogan, “only leave your footprint.” However, this project aims to take a step further and propagate regenerative tourism practices contrast to only sustainability. The concept involves improving the tourist destination, thus propagating a holistic approach to tourism rather than concentrating on a destination’s physical aspects . Such involves incorporating other practices that relieve pressure from physical aspects of a destination. These include gastronomy and culture which have proven effective in attracting tourists like physical aspects. Therefore, the projects focuses on introducing regenerative tourism practices as a new service in destinations, thus complementing sustainable tourism. The topic of the paper will be: introducing regenerative tourism practices to complement sustainable tourism.

Goals and Expectations

The project’s specific goals include

  • To introduce students to regenerative tourism practices.
  • To develop and sharpen student’s research skills.
  • To promote regenerative tourism practices as an alternative to sustainability.
  • To achieve an A in the project.
  • To foster teamwork among group members and increase knowledge in future tourism approaches.

Each member exhibits different strengths and weaknesses which are critical in determining each member’s role. Therefore, the group leader is Harmanpreet Singh. Maximus Marek Tortorella is the editor whose main role is compiling the proposal into the final project. James Shinnan and Rachel Brutes are researchers, delving deeper into regenerative tourism practices and bringing out the concept to ensure effective marketing. Nevertheless, all members are expected to engage in the research process, providing ideas that will culminate into the final project.

The project will be run through a plagiarism and artificial intelligence (AI) checker to ensure quality and preserve the human voice of research. Furthermore, recurrent checking will be done to minimize spelling and grammatical errors that impede communication. These duties will be handled by the editor who will then communicate any changes to other members.

Policies and Procedures

  1. Communication Plan

The primary mode of communication is on-face meetings. Members will avail themselves at the specified venues and on time. The discussions will be intensive, with each member expected to give insights into the project and how best it fits into the intended marketing plan. These meetings will be held thrice weekly in a specified location. Members are expected to undertake their research before attending the discussions to ensure a swift and interactive process.

Online forums will also be critical in formulating the proposal. The group is expected to use all available avenues to ensure the deadline is met. Therefore, online platforms such as zoom, WhatsApp and emails will be used extensively. These platforms will be open everyday, allowing members to seek clarification and add information that will help in polishing the final project.

  1. Meeting plan

On-face meetings will be held thrice a week until the initial proposal is finalized. The meetings will be held after lessons in the class. Members will convene quickly to minimize time wasting and a thorough discussion held for atleast 2 hours. The areas of discussion will be decided during these meetings and each member assigned a specific topic of research to enable swift running of the process and quick finalization of the proposal.

Online forums are free for all to use whenever they have information to communicate. However, zoom meetings will be held twice during the weekends from 10am to 11am. The primary goal of these meetings is to undertake a recap on the information collected during the week . Such will help determine the authenticity and how the information fits within the project. The process will ensure that less time will be spent in going back to what was already deliberated as discussions continue.

Punctuality is key and lateness will not be tolerated. Furthermore, all members are expected to avail themselves to the meetings. Incase of a problem that will hinder one’s availability, the member should communicate to the team leader 24 hours before the meeting. The team leader will then communicate the problem to other team members to avoid disruptions or any member falling behind in the discussions. Consequently, each meeting will end with a short moment of setting the agenda for the next meeting to ensure everyone is on the same page.

  1. Workload Distribution

Each member will be allocated duties that they will carry on for the rest of the discussion sessions. The team leader is responsible for convening the meetings and ensuring all members are present. Afterwards, each member will be given a specific subtopic to research and the amount of required information to ensure equity. Each member will be given 15minutes to provide a vivid description of their research and be subjected to a question and answer session, enabling everyone to understand the findings. These sessions are critical in elaborating what the proposal will entail considering its anchorage on a new concept not adopted in novel tourist destinations.

  1. Decision-making Process

The team leader is the overall head, providing direction to the team’s processes. Nevertheless, consensus will be the primary concept of decision-making. Each member will present information and a collective deliberation process undertaken. Each member will raise their hand to contribute or counter the information to help determine its eligibility in the final proposal. A vote will then be held and only information that wins the majority will be incorporated.

  1. Conflict Resolution Process

Incase of any dispute, the team leader initially discusses the issue with the member respectfully. If an agreement is not reached, he communicates the matter to all members before a discussion session. Each member gives their insight and a vote is taken to determine the best possible resolution process. The member is free to decide whether they are comfortable with the decision. If not, the team leader will communicate the same to the professor who will in turn decide on the best way forward.

Consequences of non-performance

A peer evaluation process will be conducted to prove performance. Such will be conducted every week before the commencement of the other week’s discussion. The process will be based on the subtopics each student was given to discuss. Talking points will be tucked off based on whether the requirements were met. The peer evaluation process will affect each student’s grading as the talking points will be presented to the professor.

Review and Evaluation

The above agreement is subject to review every fortnite after the date of implementation. Members are expected to raise any concerns at this period to ensure an effective learning team agreement is developed.
